Dog Portrait Archive
The sketch-like portrait of Benji in oils (below) was the first animal portrait produced, created in a weekend as a present for a friend. Further dog portraits followed, initially all colour portraits were in oils, but it proved to be a very time consuming way of working. Whilst hugely enjoyable to do, they would take days to dry and require many sessions to complete. Having been introduced to pastel pencils throught an art tutor, it was discovered that a similar level of colourful detail could be achieved using pastel pencils . The gallery features a mixture of portraits produced in pastel, pencil (monotone) and oils.
